30TH JUNE 2016 – CEBP BOARD MEETING IN PARIS
Further to the invitation of President Vabret and the French Confederation, the new CEBP Board, resulting from the Elections held in Rome, met in Paris last June 30th.
A proposal for an increased lobbying activity in Brussels was approved, together with the development of EU-funded projects concerning Promotion (both of Bakery and Confectionery products), Mobility and the EU Emergency Trust Fund.
An action plan for getting more members to join CEBP was also discussed and will be carried out along the next two years, while a CEBP Forum Website will be created.
Mr. Daniel Schneider, Secretary General of ZVDB, was appointed as Permanent Advisor of the Board on Legal Matters.
It was agreed that the membership fees for 2016 will be kept as in 2015. A new contribution proposal will be presented to the next General Assembly, which will take place in Brussels, together with the European Evening (open not only to MEPs but also to EC officials and BreadInitiative stakeholders) on November 14-15th, 2016
20TH JUNE 2016 – BREAD INITIATIVE MEETING IN BRUSSELS
The Bread Initiative met in Brussels with the participation of AIBI, COFALEC, FEDIMA, European Flour Millers and CEBP.
President Christian Vabret and Secretary-General José María Fernández del Vallado attended the meeting on behalf of CEBP, together with Peter Becker, thanks to whose connections the meeting was attended by a high EU representative: Mr. Diego Canga, Director of Multilateral Relations and Quality Policy of AGRI (the Directorate General for Agriculture and Rural Development of the European Commission) and top responsible for the EU promotion measures (see photo).
Mr. Canga appreciated this first meeting with the bakery sector and the fact that we address the European Commission in one voice. He encouraged the presentation of projects and explained that a major part of the funds will be destined to food product exports, especially to the US, Canada, Mexico, China, Japan, Turkey and the Middle East, as well as the promotion of products withdesignation of origin. The possibilities of promoting products like bread in the European internal market will be very favored if the projects are made jointly by several countries and the messages are focused on health recommendations.
Guidelines in this sense will be sent to all members in October 2016.
27TH MAY 2016 – NEW CEBP BOARD ELECTED IN ROME
During the CEBP General Assembly held in Rome on 27th May 2016, a new CEBP Board was elected:
Mr. Christian Vabret (France) got the unanimous support of the Assembly to become President (46 votes out of 46), as well as Mr. Günther Koerffer (Sweden) to become Vice-President (46/46).
Mr. Michael Wippler (Germany), Mr. Edvino Jerian (Italy) and Mr. Marios Papadopoulos (Greece) were elected as Board Members (42/46 for all board members).
Our Auditors, Mr. Theo L. Volkeri (Netherlands) and Mr. Albert Denoncin (Belgium) will continue their excellent work for another term.
